In brief
- Diego Ganzerli (Italy) wins among 350 duelists with Angelechy. In the final he beats Mirko Crosta, also Italian, who plays Elfnote.
- Five Italians in the Top 8: Ganzerli, Crosta, Leonardo Sacchetti, Alessandro Boniolo and Filippo Cusin. The others are the Britons Jake Stojanovic and Josh Kelly and Lu Zibo, whose nationality the source does not give.
- Angelechy is the Top 8 deck: three players (Ganzerli, Stojanovic, Sacchetti), then two Elfnote, one Artmage, one Light and Darkness Ritual and one unpublished deck.
- For Ganzerli it is the second Italian Open: the first was in May 2024 with Snake-Eye. This year he had already won the 300th YCS Dortmund (February) and the Stuttgart WCQ Regional (April), both with Vanquish Soul.
The program
2027 season Regional OPEN, Advanced format, at the Montresor Hotel Tower in Bussolengo (Verona). Cap of 512 duelists, entry with 5 packs (€32.50). Among the prizes the Konami page lists invitations and WQP points, without saying which placings get them. The Konami event page lists the top cut as "N/A" and says the tournament ends after Swiss, but the tournament rules (Tournament Policy v2.5, September 2025, the latest version found) provide for a Top 8 for Tier 1 and 2 with roughly 33–2,048 participants, and ygoprodeck classifies the event as Tier 2 and publishes the winner, finalist, semifinalists and quarterfinalists. A Top 8 therefore most probably took place; number of rounds, scores and bracket are not published.
The standings
- 1. Diego Ganzerli (IT): Angelechy.
- 2. Mirko Crosta (IT): Elfnote.
- 3-4. Jake Stojanovic (GB): Angelechy.
- 3-4. Lu Zibo (nationality not given): Artmage. Ygoprodeck gives him the UN flag, the placeholder for "country not specified"; the profile shows only this result.
- 5-8. Josh Kelly (GB): Light and Darkness Ritual with Azamina.
- 5-8. Leonardo Sacchetti (IT): Angelechy.
- 5-8. Alessandro Boniolo (IT): Elfnote.
- 5-8. Filippo Cusin (IT): deck not published. The ygoprodeck profile lists him as Top 8 with no archetype or list.
The meta
The Top 8 mirrors the one from Houston a week earlier: Angelechy, Elfnote and Light and Darkness Ritual, plus an Artmage. There is no Kewl Tune, the World Championship deck, banned in Advanced since September 21. Of the published lists, Kelly's is an Azamina Light and Darkness Ritual; for Ganzerli, Crosta and Stojanovic ygoprodeck does not show the list.
